COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

General:

  • By entering into this competition you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

  • Entrants can be from anywhere but the photos and story must be of a time spent in the New Zealand outdoors.

  • There are no limits on number of entries per person(s).

  • Late, illegible, incomplete, or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries.

  • Entrants may not use artificial intelligence software (AI) to generate all or part of their entry.

  • Entries must be submitted via the entry process on this website. Entries will not be accepted via email.

  • The prize money will be in NZ dollars and the entrant must have a NZ bank account to receive it.

  • The prize money will be allocated as follows; $700 first place, $200 second place and $100 third place.

  • Shortlisted entries will be judged by an external judging panel. The judging panel’s decision is final.

  • Those who are involved in the administration or judging process may not enter the competition.

  • Winners will be notified within two weeks of the closing date of the competition.

  • Copyright of all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. Winning and shortlisted images and story/ story excerpts may be posted through social media channels free of charge. This will be done for competition publicity purposes only, and for a duration of no more than three years after the entry is received. All uses will be credited to the entrant, and the entrant will be tagged if they provide a social media handle in the entry form.

Story:

  • Entrants must not submit stories that have been submitted to this competition before.

  • Entrants must not exceed 1000 words in their story. Any words additional to this will be ignored.

  • The story is to be written digitally in a word processing program (i.e. Microsoft Word) and this file submitted as part of the entry form.

  • The entry form will require you to upload the text document to cloud storage (i.e. Google Drive) and share a link to the folder. If you don’t know how to do this here’s a link. It is your responsibility to ensure that your upload link works correctly, please test this prior to submitting the entry form. Entrants must continue to allow access to the shared folder up until 14 days after the competition closes.

  • The story must not contain any inappropriate content and any individuals identified must have given their permission.

  • The story must be legible and in English or Te Reo Maori. Any entries submitted in Te Reo Maori should also be submitted in English for judging; this will not count towards your 1000 words.

Photography:

  • Entrants may not submit photos that have been submitted to this competition before.

  • Entrants submit a maximum of five photos per entry. Any photos additional to this will be ignored.

  • The entrant may not modify the photos beyond the following; white balance, exposure, colours, sharpening, levels and cropping.

  • The photos are to be in JPEG format and no bigger than 5MB each.

  • Photos are to be named and numbered in sequence with your entry title before the number i.e. ‘Entry Title’-1, ‘Entry Title’-2, ‘Entry Title’-3.

  • The entry form will require you to upload the photos to cloud storage (i.e. Google Drive) and share a link to the folder. If you don’t know how to do this here’s a link. It is your responsibility to ensure that your upload link works correctly, please test this first prior to submitting the entry form. Entrants must continue to allow access to the shared folder up until 14 days after the competition closes.

  • The photo(s) must be the intellectual property of the entrant, or the entrant must have permission to use the photo(s).

  • The photos must not contain any inappropriate or sexual content.

  • All photos taken must comply with NZ law, including any laws regarding drone photography.
